About 60 people marched through Wellington today in an effort to raise awareness of Maui's dolphins.
The march was organised by Earthrace Conservation New Zealand, with national director Scott Bowman saying latest estimates put the number remaining at 55.
"If immediate action is not undertaken to increase the protection for our 'New Zealand' dolphins, we will see them join a sad list of creatures that have been lost forever," Mr Bowman said.
"The time to act is now."
