Maramema Roderick appointed Maori TV's top job

Maori Television has appointed veteran journalist Maramena Roderick to the position of interim head of news and current affairs.

The station lost two high-profile staff members when Carol Hirschfeld and Julian Wilcox resigned after they were demoted in September.

Hirschfeld, who was the general manager production, moved to Radio New Zealand as its head of content.

Wilcox resigned as of head of news and production and will finish up next month.

Roderick begins on Monday.

Roderick's was an appointment of the "highest calibre" and she would be a fine caretaker of the news and current affairs department until a permanent head of department was appointed in the new year, Maori Television chief executive Paora Maxwell said.
