Finalists have been confirmed for the 2010 Wairarapa Maori sports awards, the winners of which will be announced at a function in the Masterton Town Hall on December 2.
Event organiser Perri Tatana said more than 60 individual and team nominations were received for the nine categories, with three finalists being selected for each of them.
"A lot of the sporting success in our community goes unrecognised and this is a great way to acknowledge those who have achieved in their chosen sport or who have given their time and support," Tatana said.
The finalists are:
Male Tai Tamariki: Te Kapua Haira, Kendall Peterson, Rikihana Edwards.
Female Tai Tamariki: Te Rina Boyce, Georgia Atkinson, Emma Samuels.
Junior male: Joshua Nicho, Campbell Gaunt, Isaac Foote.
Junior female: Travistine Cook, Elleshia Clarkson, Talia Hullena.
Senior male: Terry Waitere, Corie Karaitiana, Jesse Workman.
Senior female: Shakira Baker, Kelsi Rutene, Ana May Playle.
Coach: Boy Harmon, Syd Tatana, Dayle Clarkson.
Service to sport: Russell Thompson, Niko Broughton, Kala Dudson.
Team: Eketahuna women's rugby, Giants major B women's softball team, Makoura College first XV.
