KEY POINTS:
The Maori Party is "right behind" giving the Independent Police Conduct Authority power to arrest rogue police officers and lay criminal charges as a result of its inquiries.
The party's police spokesman, Hone Harawira, said the plans, as revealed by the Herald yesterday, would allow the authority to "police the the police" and restore the lost credibility of the former Police Complaints Authority which "seemed like when you made a complaint about a cop, other cops would look into it then tell you there was no case to answer".
