Television in Wairarapa will go digital on September 29.
Broadcasting Minister Craig Foss says lower North Island residents need to ensure they are ready for the digital switchover as research shows 20,000 households are not yet prepared for the deadline.
"Anyone who wants to keep watching television after the September 29 deadline needs to take a moment and check they are ready," he said.
You don't need a new TV to go digital but you may need some new equipment.
If you already watch TV on Freeview, Sky, Igloo or Vodafone, or if you are using a Freeview compatible device like a TiVo or PlayStation 3's Play TV you have already gone digital, so you won't need to change anything.
