A 22-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter after a teenager was fatally injured by a car outside a family birthday party in South Auckland last month.
Spencer Purcell, 22, was charged with the manslaughter of Senituli Siulua, 17, who died after being struck by a car in Papatoetoe early on April 26.
He and three other young men, Ekuini Purcell, 18, Ralph Wendt, 21, and Timo Faauli, 21, also faced three charges of injuring with intent and one charge of assaulting a female partygoer before Mr Siulua was struck.
All four had earlier appeared in Manukau District Court on April 29 on a holding assault charge, which has since been withdrawn. Spencer Purcell is the only one of the four charged with manslaughter.
The quartet will reappear in Manukau District Court for a depositions hearing on September 16.
Mr Siulua died following a family party where young men who pulled up near them allegedly attacked party guests before hitting Mr Siulua as they drove away.
