A 62-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter over the death of a Waikato University student who fell off his car bonnet.
Warren Deane, 41, confronted a man trying to dump rubbish on vacant land in Hamilton, and ended up grabbing on to the bonnet of the offending man's car.
The car reportedly travelled with Mr Deane still on the bonnet, until he fell and rolled away from the vehicle while it was travelling down Hamilton East's Naylor St.
Mr Deane died last Tuesday, a little less than a week after entering hospital.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Andy Bu Bear said the driver had been charged with manslaughter as police "consolidate" their investigation.
