A man suffered a serious leg injury when a gum tree he was cutting up for firewood crushed his lower leg.
The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Taupo's Greenlea Rescue Helicopter were called about 11.30am to a property north of Taupo where the 52-year-old man was trapped by the tree.
He was trapped for more than two hours before the tree was lifted off using heavy machinery.
He was flown to Waikato Hospital with a serious injury to his lower left leg.
