A man's body was discovered face down in shallow water alongside the Waikato River this morning.
Emergency services were called to Harris Street in Huntly at 7.55am after a member of the public found a 67-year-old man face down in water on the bank beside the Waikato River, police northern communications shift Inspector Inspector Andy Brill said.
"He was unconscious, found face down in water. CPR was started at the scene but he was dead."
Mr Brill said the man was found on the bank, face down in the water.
"He wasn't floating."
