Man's body found in Queenstown alleyway

Police are investigating the discovery of a young man's body in a Queenstown street early today.

Acting Detective Sergeant Grant Miller said the body was found in an alleyway off Shotover Street in the vicinity of Base Backpackers and the Altitude bar about 1.40am.

The death did not appear to be suspicious at this stage but police would like to hear from anybody who may have been in the area between 11pm yesterday and 2am.

He said the dead man, who was in his early 20s, was a UK National and police were endeavouring to contact his next of kin.
