Man's body found in Cannons Creek, Porirua stream - no suspicious circumstances, police say

The sudden death of a man at Porirua in the Wellington region is not being treated as suspicious, the police say.

The man's body was found in a stream near Cannons Creek in Porirua this morning.

Police were called to Bothamley Park near Champion St at 7.55am today.

Champion St between Mepham Place and Windley St was closed and cordons were put up in parts of Bothamley Park.

Police at first appealed for information about what had happened.

Later, they said the body had been removed from the scene and the cordons had been lifted.

"Police are providing support to the man's family. The death will be referred to the coroner."
