A body found in the wreckage of a burned out car in a Hamilton suburb is believed to be that of a young man seen arguing with his girlfriend earlier in the evening.
Sergeant Murray Stapp said the Fire Service attended a car fire in the Hamilton suburb of Whitiora on Monday night but firefighters were unaware there was anyone inside until after the flames were extinguished.
It was believed the victim was a young man seen arguing with his girlfriend at an adjacent house in Mill Lane, he confirmed.
However, family members had yet to be informed and therefore his name could not be publicly released.
He said the death was not considered suspicious and had been referred to the coroner.
