A manhunt is underway in a Christchurch suburb after an alleged hit-and-run driver fled from police this morning.
The driver of a grey Nissan Skyline fled the scene of a crash on foot around 10.50am in the St Martins area of the city, police said.
Earlier, the driver was signalled to stop by officers as they drove along Cashmere Rd shortly after 10.45am due to the manner of driving, police said.
A short pursuit was abandoned and the fleeing vehicle later collided at low speed with a parked car on Tennyson St. They then fled the scene on foot and were seen climbing over roofs and fences.
Cordons have been established in the area while police, police dogs and handlers search for the fleeing driver.
