KEY POINTS:
Police are hunting two armed men who attempted to rob a man at a Hastings motel unit early this morning.
Police said around 1.15am a 38-year-old Hastings man was threatened by two masked men armed with a firearm and a hammer, who had entered the motel unit.
"They have demanded money from the victim but left empty handed when the victim managed to escape and call police."
Hastings police appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
