KEY POINTS:
A 19-year-old woman required hospital treatment for burns after a house was gutted by fire in South Dunedin late last night.
Senior Sergeant Brian Benn said police and firefighters were called to the house about 10.30pm.
However, the fire was already raging and by the time it was brought under control it was all but destroyed.
He said a man and a three-year-old toddler escaped the blaze unharmed.
Police and firefighters would begin investigating the cause of the blaze today.
