A 58-year-old man with severed arteries in his hand was airlifted from Turangi to Waikato Hospital this morning.
The man had cut his hand with a knife and was bleeding badly, Youthtown Trust rescue helicopter spokesman Hendry de Waal said.
He was treated by St John paramedics before being flown to hospital.
The man arrived about 10.30am and was in the hospital's emergency department being assessed, Waikato Hospital spokeswoman Mary Anne Gill said.
