Man 'with device' robs bank

A man claiming he had an explosive device escaped with an unknown amount of money after robbing an Auckland bank today.

He walked into the Westpac Bank in the suburb of Newmarket about 12.30pm and demanded money before escaping on foot.

The bank remained closed after the robbery and police interviewed customers and staff, police said in a statement.
