KEY POINTS:
A Taranaki man was sentenced to eight months' jail yesterday for an "unarmed" attack on a New Plymouth pharmacy.
Brendon Francis Goodin, 29, was caught on surveillance cameras as he stood outside the Westown Pharmacy around 2am on January 6, the Taranaki Daily News reported.
Goodin was brandishing a metal pipe and carrying a backpack despite both his arms being broken and in casts.
After posing for the camera Goodin returned, this time with a beanie obscuring his face.
He attacked the front door with the pipe, but it refused to give so he turned his attention to a side window.
Goodin smashed the window before leaving empty handed - and without his beanie which was dropped among the glass.
Police found him at home several days later, surrounded by a small cannabis growing operation.
He was sentenced in New Plymouth District Court yesterday.
