An Auckland man who loaned his brother money for a pizza and took a Lotto ticket as a gift in repayment has won enough to eat pizza every day for the next 150 years.
The 25-year-old North Shore man won $1,002,677 in the Lotto draw on May 24.
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, told NZ Lotteries he wasn't really a regular Lotto player, buying only two or three tickets this year.
"I ended up with this one because I had loaned my brother some money to buy pizza one night.
"He was off out to rent some DVDs and I said to him just pick me up a Lotto ticket instead of paying me back.
"On reflection it's the best tasting and most expensive pizza I've ever had."
The man said he had invested the money well buying a house, helping out his family and putting the rest in the bank.
"The best thing is that here I was at 25 and working in retail and thinking I was a long way off getting to where I wanted to be in life.
"Now I'm sorted!"
