A Dunedin man had to be winched from rocks after falling into the sea while on a walk this morning, police said.
The 32-year-old was found clinging to rocks in an incoming tide after he slipped off a path at a small beach near St Clair known as Second Beach, Senior Sergeant Philip McDouall said.
It was too rocky and the swell too big to rescue the man using an inflatable boat, so police called a rescue helicopter.
He was unhurt, but taken to hospital for a check up.
