KEY POINTS:
A man who allegedly handed over a note threatening a Ngarawahia National Bank teller is on the run.
The man is alleged to have passed a note to the bank teller before threatening her and making off with an undisclosed amount of money.
Detective Grant Deane said the man was seen leaving in a silver Ford Falcon that was reported stolen from Te Awamutu in February. He said the Falcon is registered ZY1558.
He described the man as Maori or Polynesian and about 32-years-old. Mr Deane said the man was wearing a woolen hat with ear covers and tassels.
"Underneath this hat he was wearing a baseball cap, the peak of which had two light coloured curved horizontal stripes across it."
Mr Deane said anyone who had seen the car or recognised the offender should contact police on (07) 824 8199.
