A man shot in the face after pulling an imitation firearm on police has been jailed for 18 months.
Murray James Allan, 24, pleaded guilty to assault with a weapon, unlawful possession of an imitation firearm and ammunition, as well as three charges of dishonestly using stolen cheques.
Police fired on Allan after he aimed a blank firing pistol at officers when a patrol went to search the parked vehicle he was in on February 4 this year.
When Allan, of Parklands, Christchurch, first appeared at Christchurch District Court in April, a bandage covered his forehead above his left eye.
