A man has been arrested after allegedly aiming a loaded crossbow at two children in Dunedin this afternoon.
Police were called to Riselaw Road, in southern suburb Carlton Hill, shortly after midday following reports the man was pointing the crossbow at two children in a neighbouring yard.
The man was a visitor to the property, Senior Sergeant Kelvin Lloyd said.
A 35-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession of an offensive weapon. A crossbow and arrows were recovered.
The man would appear in Dunedin District Court this week, police said.
