An Auckland man will seek to keep his criminal record clean, after admitting that he helped his chronically-ill wife to die.
Evan Mott appeared briefly at the High Court at Auckland today where his lawyer Ron Mansfield indicated he would be seeking a discharge without conviction.
Mott had previously pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting the death of his wife Rosemary, who had been diagnosed several years ago with an aggressive form of multiple sclerosis, a degenerative condition for which there is no cure.
The 55-year-old's health deteriorated rapidly and her husband is alleged to have agreed to help research suicide methods and assemble a kit with which she could kill herself.
Mott appeared this morning in the Auckland District Court where his lawyer Ron Mansfield indicated he would seek a discharge without conviction for his client.
