Police have been unable to identify the man whose body was found floating in Auckland's Western Springs Lake this morning, but have confirmed he was elderly.
A police cordon around the lake was lifted and the area has reopened to the public after the discovery of the elderly man's clothed body in the lake this morning.
The man, believed to have been aged between 65 and 75, was wearing mismatched dark suit-style jacket and trousers, brown leather shoes and blue dress socks.
His short hair was grey, he was of medium build and would have been 1.68m to 1.72m tall.
Detective Sergeant Brett Batty of Auckland police said inquiries were continuing into who the man was and how he came to be in the lake.
"We don't know much about him at all right now but the pathologist tells us it's possible he had medical problems in the past."
