Man who died in quad bike crash 'deeply missed'

The accident happened on a private property at Elephant Hill.

The Wanaka family of the man killed in a quad bike crash near Waimate at the weekend say he was a widely respected man who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Ryan Stuart, 31, grew up in South Otago and Dunedin, but most recently lived in Perth and was home on holiday, his family said via funeral director Andrew Maffey.

A funeral for tuart will be held in Wanaka on Friday.

Stuart died after quade bike crash on private property at Elephant Hill about 10am on Saturday.

He was flown to Dunedin Hospital where he died later that day, police said.

Stuart's death has devastated family and friends in New Zealand and Australia, Maffey said. The family has asked for privacy.

Stuart's death was the second quad bike death in Waimate in 10 days and has been referred to coroner.

Paul Dee, 46, was killed in a quad bike crash southeast of Waimate on April 28.
