A man found dead after his car crashed into a concrete culvert north of Gisborne yesterday has been named by police.
He was Tuakana Tokotaru Riki, 73, of Taumarunui.
Mr Riki's car veered off the road into the culvert on State Highway 2, 5km north of Gisborne, about 7am.
Sergeant Carl Neustroski, of the Gisborne road policing unit, said an investigation had shown that Mr Riki died of an existing medical condition.
