The Kapiti man who beat up his 15-year-old stepdaughter's rapist plans to appeal his sentence, claiming the man exaggerated the extent of his injuries.
The father, whose name is suppressed, was found guilty of injuring Jason Haward with intent.
He was sentenced on Wednesdayin the Wellington District Court to 240 hours of community work.
The parents were driving home from the rape clinic with proof of the 15-year-old girl's assault when they spotted her attacker.
The stepfather told Newstalk ZB's Larry Williams the girl's mother was calling the police when Haward tried to get away and the fight broke out.
