Police have released the name of a man wanted in connection with the killing of Keith Kahi on Sunday night.
He is 42-year-old Glen Michael MacDonald, unemployed, who lives at the Botany Downs address outside which Mr Kahi died of gunshot wounds.
Police say MacDonald is driving a 1993 black Isuzu Bighorn, registration plate YH8276.
Detective Inspector Mark Gutry warned the public not to approach MacDonald, who has contacts throughout the Auckland region.
MacDonald and Mr Kahi were known to each other, said Mr Gutry.
He did not believe the killing was gang-related, but said police were looking into whether drugs were involved.
The weapon recovered at the Tullis Place, Botany Downs address is believed to have been the gun that killed Mr Kahi.
