KEY POINTS:
A 19-year-old man was viciously attacked and robbed early this morning while sitting on a seat in a Blenheim square.
Police said the man had been approached in Seymour Square by three or four males at 12.30am.
He was punched a number of times until unconscious. When he came to he realised his MP3 player had been stolen.
The man was taken to Wairau Hospital and has been discharged.
Police said the attackers were part Maori or Pacific Islanders.
One was about 1.83m tall, about 20, was of average build, unshaven, and wearing a dark coloured puffer jacket, baggy trousers and white sneakers.
Another was about 17, around 1.65m, was chubby and was wearing a dark coloured hoody and dark blue baggy jeans.
And another was of average build and height and wearing a hoody.
Police are appealing for any information.
