An 82-year-old male is in a serious condition after becoming trapped under his own vehicle when it rolled over him.
A police spokesperson said the incident happened shortly before 1pm on Whitby Cres in Mairangi Bay and emergency services are still at the scene.
Fire and emergency shift manager Paul Radden said two fire engines were called to a motor vehicle accident, car versus pedestrian.
"It appears a person was trapped under the vehicle and we have got to work with rescue equipment and we have just extricated that person. They have now been placed in the care of ambulance."
He said it took approximately 30 minutes to remove the person from under the vehicle.
