A 56-year-old man has been flown to hospital in critical condition after being trapped when his excavator rolled 50-metres down a bank in rural Central Hawkes Bay this morning.
An ambulance was called to the Mangatarata Rd site about 9.30am.
Emergency services worked for more than an hour to free the man who was described on scene as in a "status 1" critical condition.
