A Taupo man who shot dead his hunting companion in April has been committed to trial.
Bernard Lee, 50, appeared in the Taupo District Court today charged with careless use of a firearm causing the death of the friend he had hunted with for 30 years, William Gillies.
Lee's lawyer Kevin Ryan QC conceded at a depositions hearing before two Justices of the Peace that there was a case to answer.
Lee has been remanded on bail to the Rotorua District Court in September for a trial date to be set.
