A 32-year-old Taupo man is to appear in the Rotorua District Court tomorrow over a family violence incident in Waitahanui.
About 4.20pm today, police were called by family members after a female was assaulted and threatened with a firearm.
The armed offenders squad found the man in the area and he was taken into custody without incident.
Police spokesman Senior Sergeant Fane Troy paid tribute to family members who intervened to help the victim.
"Any kind of violence towards people is not okay."
