Man to appear in court after woman's body found

A man will appear in Christchurch District Court today after a woman was found dead in the city's suburb of Woolston.

Detective Senior Sergeant David Harvey said the man was appearing in court on "associated charges".

A post-mortem examination will be held today on the body of the 37-year-old mother.

Police said dead woman's name would not be released until next of kin had been informed.

The woman was visiting friends in Maunsell St when she died yesterday afternoon.

Police last night were interviewing neighbours and checking details of everyone who came and went in the small street.

Christchurch CIB were investigating the suspected homicide.
