KEY POINTS:
A 19 year old Ruatoki man is to appear in court today after a man was assaulted and stabbed in the car park of a Tokoroa tavern early this morning.
Tokoroa CIB Detective Sergeant Kevan Verry said a 20 year old man was assaulted and stabbed in the car park of the Trees Tavern shortly after closing at 2am.
A police patrol found the man lying on a nearby footpath and he taken by ambulance to Tokoroa Hospital and treated for cuts to his head, face and ear.
A second police patrol found the alleged attacker nearby and he was arrested and charged with wounding with intent to injure.
The attack was seen by a number of patrons leaving the tavern and police are appealing for them to come forward.
