A man was thrown up to three metres when he suffered an electric shock at a Wairarapa milking shed this afternoon.
The Life Flight Trust's Westpac rescue helicopter was called about 12.15pm after the contractor received an electrical shock while installing equipment at a farm west of Featherston.
The man was thrown two to three metres and landed on the milking shed floor when he struck live power wires while drilling.
"Although suffering the effects of the electrical shock and the fall the worker was able to ring 111 for assistance," said crewman Colin Larsen.
The injured contractor, a Wairarapa man in his late 20s, was flown to Wellington Hospital with moderate injuries to his hand and head.
