KEY POINTS:
A 42-year-old man who threatened to set himself alight during a domestic incident in Hastings this morning has been arrested.
Police said a woman had called them about the man's behaviour and then left the address.
After the woman left the man poured petrol on his clothing, opened the valve on a gas bottle and threatened to set fire to himself.
Police negotiated with him for half an hour before he surrendered.
No one was hurt during the incident and police are talking to the man.
