KEY POINTS:
A man wielding a large carving knife threatened staff at a Palmerston North dairy before stealing cash from the till, police say.
Detective Nigel Affleck of Palmerston North CIB said the man entered the dairy on Taonui Street just before 2pm on Saturday.
"He threatened the staff with a large black-handled carving knife and then stole a sum of cash," he said.
The man then ran across the road to an alleyway leading to the old Warehouse building on Cuba Street.
Mr Affleck said the man was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and three quarter denim shorts.
"Police would like to speak to people who were in the area at the time and may have seen this person," he said.
