Man suffers mystery injuries in central Auckland

A man has been found unconscious with serious head injuries on Auckland's Karangahape Road early today.

The 40-year-old suffered the injuries near Pitt Street between 5.15am and 5.45am, Detective Sergeant Neil Hilton said.

It was not yet known what caused the injuries, he told NZPA.

Police would like to hear from anyone in the area at the time of the incident, or knew anything about how the man sustained the injuries, he said.
