Police are hunting a knife-wielding offender who stabbed a man outside Auckland City Mission this morning.
Mission staff heard banging on the door and cries for help about 8am as they were about to open for the day, a City Mission spokeswoman said.
The victim was treated at the mission's on-site medical facility before an ambulance arrived and took him to Auckland Hospital.
Detective Sergeant Andy King said the 43-year-old man had been stabbed in his side outside the building on Hobson St.
His wound was serious but not life threatening, he said.
