A man is in hospital with a stab wound after an assault in Petone.
Emergency services were called to an address on Hutt Rd at about 2.40pm.
A police spokeswoman said they were working to understand the circumstances of the incident but it appeared the parties involved were known to one another.
Two people were assisting police with their inquiries and no one else was being sought in relation to the incident, she said.
A Wellington Free Ambulance spokeswoman confirmed the man was taken to Wellington Hospital in a serious condition.
