Man sparks Hamilton AOS callout

A man was arrested in Hamilton this afternoon after sparking an armed offenders squad (AOS) callout.

Police were called to a house just before 3pm after a man had threatened to turn a firearm on himself. He eventually came to the door to speak with police negotiators, and was arrested for misuse of a telephone.

He was intoxicated and unarmed, and no firearm was found at the house, police said.
