Police investigating the death of a woman from stab wounds at a south Auckland house yesterday said today they had found the body of a man about a kilometre away.
The man's death was not suspicious and police were not looking for anyone else in connection with their inquiries.
Otara police were called to Tyrone St, in East Tamaki, about 4pm yesterday and found the body of a 27-year-old woman.
After launching a homicide inquiry, they discovered the man's body on Kerwyn Ave about 11pm.
Police said post-mortem examinations of the bodies would be conducted this morning, with a scene examination and further inquires expected to be completed later today.
The names of the two deceased were not expected to be released until early next week.
Yesterday, before the man's body was located, Detective Senior Sergeant Gary Lendrum said there had been a dispute between a woman and a man that afternoon.
"As a result, a family member ran to a nearby address and another person left the house with some children," he said.
"When they returned, they found the deceased."
Mr Lendrum said police had collected what he believed was the weapon involved in causing the woman's injuries.
