A 23 year-old man is in police custody after a man was shot in the leg.
Detective Senior Sergeant Liam Clinton said the 28 year-old man was in hospital with injuries that are "not thought to be life threatening".
He said police were called to a house in the Tauranga suburb of Parkvale at 11pm yesterday.
Mr Clinton said police had found the gun believed to have been used in the shooting and arrested the 23 year-old man. He is appearing in court today on charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and unlawful possession of a firearm.
