A man shot in a gunshop in Auckland last week will today be charged with assault with intent to rob.
A special hearing of Auckland District Court will be held at Auckland City Hospital, where the 29-year-old man has been since Thursday's shooting.
The charge follows the incident in Penrose where the man is alleged to have attacked a worker at Small Arms International on Great South Road.
The accused man is in hospital recovering from a gunshot wound to the stomach which he received at the time of the alleged assault.
Police said today that he was interviewed by detectives yesterday afternoon.
They said they understood the special court hearing would be held sometime later today and public attendance was at the discretion of the presiding judge.
The family of Greg Carvell, who fired the shot, had complained that they were being treated as suspects while the injured man had not yet been quizzed by police.
Police have not said if Mr Carvell will be charged.
