Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was shot in the face with a BB gun in Tauranga yesterday.
The 25-year-old victim was struck in the jaw with a pellet about 1.45pm while delivering pamphlets in suburban Judea, about 3km southwest of downtown Tauranga.
Sergeant Steve Hindmarsh of Taurangapolice said they had not been able to find who shot the man, or where exactly it was fired from.
Police searched of a house where the victim believed it came from but could not find anything, he said.
"People have been spoken to in the area but nothing's come of it," Mr Hindmarsh told NZPA.
Mr Hindmarsh said it was possible the shot came from somewhere nearby.
The victim, who did not want to be named, told the Bay of Plenty Times it was the second time he had been shot at with a BB gun, though the first was some years ago.
