KEY POINTS:
A 62-year-old man died from a gunshot wound in Taihape last night.
Sergeant Graeme Rumble of Taihape police said the man's wife of 43 years discovered him about 9.35pm, and called neighbours who alerted the emergency services.
The man died shortly after they arrived.
Mr Rumble said police had completed a scene examination and were not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.
The death had been reported to the coroner.
