KEY POINTS:
A man is in a serious condition in Waikato Hospital after a gang fight near Te Awamutu late last night.
Police said the man was injured when fighting erupted outside the Star Tavern in Lyon St, Kihikihi, south of Te Awamutu, just before 11pm.
They said it took a long time to break up the fight as those involved were using weapons, including sticks and clubs.
It is thought some of those in the fight were young teenagers.
No arrests have yet been made.
