Man seriously injured in police pursuit

A driver is in Tauranga hospital with serious head injuries following a police chase in Te Puke last night.

Constable Peter Pickering told NZPA the man would be charged with driving related offences.

Police allege the 33-year-old man tried to avoid being pulled over after failing to give way at an intersection. The car was stopped by road spikes but the driver lost control, hitting another vehicle, injuring three elderly people.
